Students learn to grow vegetable gardens, tend to the fruit trees in the orchard and manage the aquaponic and worm farm composting systems and rain re-capture systems while simultaneously learning nutrition, cooking and environmental sustainability- all while earning community service hours.
Lapan Art & Design Class
Thursday 3:00-4:00 pm & 4:00-5:30 pm
Students can play and experiment with new ideas and art techniques to express themselves, create beauty, tell a story and find their unique style as an artist. Taught by a working creative, students also learn to discuss their art and to present their ideas as a personal brand, and learn the entrepreneurial skills required to make money making art.

Wednesday 3:00-4:00 pm
Thursday 4:00-5:00 pm
Students get hands-on experience with an array of instruments, from guitar to drums. As students enhance their skills, they can join one of our house bands where they rehearse together and perform at our Lapan events.
Lapan Pet Therapy Program
Tuesday 3:00-4:00 pm & 4:00-5:00 pm
Students learn to care for and appropriately handle pets including dogs, birds, reptiles and even miniature horses! Studies indicate that caring for animals breaks down emotional and intellectual barriers in children and allows volunteers to have meaningful and impactful conversations with the students involved in the program.
Lapan Robotics Club
Thursday 4:00-5:30 pm
Students learn to build, program and operate robots, integrating principles of physics, chemistry and engineering while gaining dexterity with basic shop tools in the Lapan "maker space." Each spring, students compete in a Tucson-wide battle-bot competition using robotic vehicles they have designed and created.
Lapan Soccer Scholar League (LSSL)
Practice: Monday 4:00-5:30 pm
Games: Wednesday 3:00-5:30 pm
Students learn important life skills that will help them both on and off the field, while playing their favorite “beautiful game.” Teams are coached and mentored by successful Lapan high school and college students who are accomplished in both athletics and academics, and are powerful role models for middle school students.
